I recently received a laptop with Intel GMA 4500MHD Mobile installed. On all medium settings, this GMA's performance isn't very sucky. However, I noticed that lighting settings made no difference (i.e. Creatures aren't shiny, there's no mist/fog). Intel GMA 4500MHD (the rest of the hardware doesn't matter, for it's a purely graphics bug) ArchLinux pcsx2 rev4260 ZZogl The problem is: no matter, what options/hacks I set or unset, I get a borked picture. Textures and polygons are ok, but covered with 'stripes' and other artifacts. I'm guessing that it's the Unified Shader Model implemented the 4500MHD, but with relatively little hardware knowledge, I can't be sure. I know that Spore only supports some of the older GMAs, but what about the 4500MHD? Is it possible to get the shader of that to work? Any response would be appreciated. Laptop with GMA 4500MHD graphics. I've installed and un/re-installed and learned that the original launch version of Creature Creator functioned properly. All detail settings would take including lighting. Once I installed the latest patch, boom, no more lighting functionality. In summary: v1.0 1366x768 -All adjustments worked -Slow if both Shadows and Lighting were maxed, fine if it's just one or the other (prefer lighting) v2.01 1366x768 -All adjustments except for Lighting work -Never slow with everything maxed (presumably because lighting adjustments don't work) Considering the older version of this game [Creature Creator] worked with this video adapter, it should be possible to fix, right? SporeMasterPM wrote:If a video card update can't fix, you might want to manually upload to 4.1 instead. Is this specifically for the full Spore game? Creature Creator only has two patches out and the official site doesn't make it clear when each of them were released. I noticed the old version doesn't recognize creatures made under the newer version so anything I (or anyone else) make on the desktop is inaccessible. I've already tried updating the Intel GMA drivers. It seemed to improve framerates and kicked up the Windows Experience Index for Gaming Graphics from 3.4 to 4.1, but didn't fix the glitch that makes the lighting detail setting do nothing. That is just odd. Is there some configuration file hidden somewhere that lets which video card do what? I know that'd be playing with fire, but if they locked it out on purpose I would have thought they'd grey out 'lighting' in the UI as well. ***EDIT*** Alright, I fixed it. I took the configuration.txt files from the launch version of Creature Creator and used them in place of the ones that come with the patch.
